American Pageant

For this assignment we had to make a modern statement based off of the painting, "American Gothic." I chose to make a comment about superficiality- specifically in young people and in child beauty pageants
The narrative in this piece is that the mother was a previous pageant winner in her late teens and is now bringing up her own child to be just as appearance obsessed as she is.
